Third in the Crimson collection, this book continues the adventures of Alex Elder, a normal teenager who suddenly inherits abnormal problems when he is bitten by a vampire. In this installment, Alex befriends an amnesiac and mortal angel named Zophiel who has fallen from the grace of God and been banished to Earth. But before this friendship can truly blossom, Zophiel is kidnapped by Tan, a delusional would-be messiah. Alex and his friend Joe quickly descend beneath the sewers of New York to a secret city to save their new compatriot and learn that some actions result in dire consequences.
