Hey Arrow fans and DC collectors! As you know, tonight is the season premiere of Arrow, so we thought it would be fun to join in the excitement with a special Arrow-themed look behind the scenes at one of most highly anticipated new collectibles.

We wanted our upcoming new Arrow: Oliver Queen and Deathstroke action figures to be as realistic as possible, and you can’t get more true-to-the-show than using Stephen Amell as your model! Last year, we invited the star of the hit series over for an in-costume, full-body digital scan. Then to really get the details right, we followed that up with a close-up digital scan of Stephen's head, which you can see below.

All of the weapons and accessories included with the action figure are also direct digital scans of the props used in the show, which means that you can use them to fight crime, provided you’re a master of martial arts and archery…and you’re, uh, six inches tall.

After all of the scanning, the results were then processed and cleaned up by Gentle Giant Studios, where the scanning took place and the figure was sculpted. Once the digital sculpt was complete, the twenty points of articulation were cut into it, making this one of our more articulated figures to date. The figure was then output by a 3D printer mold, casted and painted.

Usually, we wouldn’t suggest getting too close to a pair of tough looking guys like that, but in this case, we not only suggest it—we insist on it! How else can you appreciate all of those details?
