The Beatles once memorably sang, “I don’t know why you say goodbye, I say hello.” We doubt very much they were singing about Green Lantern—though we kinda wish they were, just for the sheer awesome factor—but we can’t help thinking of that line when looking at this week’s GREEN LANTERN #21. Yes, many of us are still saying goodbye to Geoff Johns and Doug Mahnke and savoring the pages of their final issue. But while they may be leaving the book, that doesn’t mean Green Lantern’s going away, and this week brings with it the opportunity to say hello, hello, hello to the book’s brand new creative team.

Robert Venditti (who will also be co-writing Green Lantern Corps starting with issue #22) has been tackling the swords and sorcery fantasy genre successfully each month with Demon Knights, and we can’t wait to see him stretch his sci-fi muscles. And Billy Tan… Well, why don’t we just let his issue #21 cover speak for itself?

Of course, it’s not all about Green Lantern this week. There’s also a dangerous new issue of Green Arrow on the stands, the second inflammatory issue of The Movement, Superman in Action Comics, Batman in Detective Comics and an advanced society of living graffiti in Dial H. (And if that sounds odd, wait till you see the hero in this one.)

Finally, we’d be remiss if we didn’t direct your attention over to Vertigo for a moment. This week marks the return of Astro City, Kurt Busiek and Brent Anderson’s groundbreaking look at super heroics. If you’re a long-time fan of the series, or if this will be your first excursion into this world, don’t miss this week’s stellar ASTRO CITY #1.
