Galaxy

Galaxy

Born among the stars and cast to Earth, Galaxy is a living lesson that heroism begins with standing up for your truest self. As heir to the royal family of the planet Cyandii, the first great challenge of Taelyr’s life was expressing to her parents that she was in fact the princess of their world, and not the prince they had assumed. But that act of courage would pale in comparison to giving up everything she had ever known to flee her homeworld from the Vane, an unstoppable conquering insectoid race which had arrived to consume her planet. With her only companions a Cyandii military general and two other child refugees, this small pod of survivors made their home in the Appalachian Ozma Gap, using Cyandii technology to present as humans. Unfortunately, this technology would force Taelyr back into a male-presenting body. For her safety and sanity, the princess in exile was assigned a guardian and confidante in Argus, a loyal and verbose bio-engineered companion assuming the form of a corgi dog.

After years of laying low in miserable secrecy, the human-presenting high school basketball star “Taylor” became smitten with new Ozma Gap resident Kat Silverberg, who encouraged Taylor to live as her authentic self. Using an emergency device to undo her transformation, Taylor once again permanently assumed her Cyandii form. This proved an unpopular choice among her neighbors and foster family. Although the general and her erstwhile siblings came to accept her decision, Taylor faced expulsion from her school out of fear of her appearance and new abilities. But with Kat’s love and support, Taylor was encouraged to use her powers to help protect her homeworld as one of its heroes.

Taylor now makes her home within A-Town, the extraterrestrial immigrant quarter of Metropolis with a thriving queer community, protecting her corner of the city as the hero Galaxy with Kat and Argus by her side. With mentorship from both Superman and Ma Hunkel, the Golden Age Red Tornado, she saved the entire world when the Vane came to conquer Earth as they had Cyandii (even if few know it ever happened). Now a proud member of the extended Justice League, Galaxy’s greatest power of all has proven to be her ability to help friends like Hawkgirl and Dreamer as they find their own footing in the world and strive towards the self-actualization Galaxy has so dearly won for herself.
