First Look: Catwoman Comes Clean

By Tim Beedle Monday, May 27th, 2019

Three young women are dead and the evidence seems to point to Selina Kyle in this exclusive first look at Wednesday’s Catwoman Annual #1.

Three dead women. Conflicting stories. Unreliable witnesses. And Selina Kyle’s at the center of it all.

Catwoman has always had a thing for street kids with nowhere else to turn. Perhaps that’s why she invited Chesa, a young female addict living on the streets, into her home.  Hoping to help Chesa gain some self-reliance and skills to carve out a better life for herself, things don’t quite go according to plan, and tragically, the young woman, along with two of her friends, ends up dead. But what happened? Is it really a suicide? And why does the one other living witness say that Selina did it?

Joelle Jones’ first Catwoman Annual is a standalone mystery told through a variety of points of view and rendered by three different, very talented artists all working in a variety of styles. It’s a comic that’s not quite like any others on the stands right now and a good first foray into Jones’ fierce take on the Gotham City antihero for anyone who may be new to it. In this exclusive first look, an unseen cameraperson tries to unravel the mystery of what happened, but it’s clear that’s going to be more challenging than the heist that led to the tragedy. And possibly just as dangerous.
