The 2016 Hugo Awards selected New York Times bestselling author Neil Gaiman and luminary artist J.H. Williams III’s THE SANDMAN: OVERTURE as Best Graphic Story.

DC and Vertigo offer their congratulations to the team for their win of this distinguished award in comics and science fiction!

Presented annually since 1955, The Hugo Awards have been recognized as science fiction’s most prestigious honors, highlighting the best from novels, shorter stories, magazines, editors and a variety of other works. Selected by members of the World Science Fiction Convention (“Worldcon”), those recognized by The Hugo Awards are coveted as contributors to the overall impact made to the world of science fiction and fantasy.

Twenty-five years after THE SANDMAN first changed the landscape of modern comics, both Gaiman and Williams revived the legendary series with THE SANDMAN: OVERTURE.  From the birth of a galaxy to the moment that Morpheus is captured, THE SANDMAN: OVERTURE features cameo appearances by fan-favorite characters such as the Corinthian, Merv Pumpkinhead and, of course, the Dream King’s siblings: Death, Desire, Despair, Delirium, Destruction and Destiny.
