If you’ve been frequenting the DC Comics website recently, you may have noticed that there’s been a lot of coverage regarding a certain super-powered Kryptonian with incredible strength and durability, a Man of Steel, if you will.

It’s like we’re the Daily Planet up in here with all this Superman stuff, amirite? Which, really, why would we not want to be the Daily Planet? They’ve got the best reporters, exclusives regarding super-heroes, and a guy who is simply committed to bringing back the bowtie in a non-ironic fashion.

Anyway, the coverage comes not only in celebration of the release of the Man of Steel, which is currently punching its way through box offices across the globe, but also because between the movie, new comic book titles, and much more, it’s simply a great time be a Superman fan—which is why we’re giving readers 5.2 Reasons that Superman is Flying High!

1. Man of Steel

We’ve talked about the movie extensively in our previous 5.2 Reasons column and Easter Egg feature, but as Superman fans, we’re thrilled that the Last Son of Krypton is kicking butt—both literally and figuratively—up on the big screen. We’ve already seen the movie multiple times but are still excited to see it again and again.

2. Superman Unchained

Along with the release of a new film, the Man of Steel got two brand new titles in the month of June. The first is Superman Unchained, written by none other than the best-selling, critically acclaimed mastermind of the Batman ongoing series, Scott Snyder. Snyder has blown us away with his ability to tell engaging and complex stories that keep us on the edge of our seats, and with the first issue of Unchained, he’s keeping that tradition alive by giving us amazing action and burning questions we can’t wait to find out the answers to.

3. Batman/Superman

The second new series teams the Man of the Steel with the Dark Knight for all new adventures in The New 52. Written by Greg Pak—a writer we’re thrilled to have here at DC Comics—the first arc presents the first meeting between the two titular heroes, both in terms of meeting each other and in terms of meeting their otherworldly counterparts on Earth 2!

4. Superman/Wonder Woman

While the Last Son may have had two new titles this month, he’ll be getting another one later in the year as well. Scheduled for release in October and written by Charles Soule with art by Tony Daniel, the series focuses on the DCU’s resident power couple and explores their romantic relationship both in and out of the costume.

5. Superman’s 75th Anniversary

This year also marks the Man of Steel’s 75th birthday (and he barely looks a day over 30—dang those Kryptonian genetics!) and we’ve got a number of surprises lined up to celebrate the occasion. For one, Superman Unchained features a series of variant covers of Superman throughout the ages by legendary artists like Bruce Timm, Dave Johnson, Neal Adams, Jerry Ordway, Dan Jurgens, Lee Bermejo, Jose Luis Garcia Lopez, Gary Frank, John Paul Leon, Brett Booth, and many more! There's also a brand new animated short currently in production and produced by Zack Snyder that pays homage to Superman and his many incarnations! There are more surprises to come, so stay tuned!
