Whew! It’s Friday and while we’re all counting down the hours to the weekend, what we’re really looking forward to here on DCComics.com is August. Group solicits for the month went out this week and there’s some great stuff to look forward to, isn’t there? A big batch of extra-sized annuals hit the stands, Batgirl squares off against Batwoman, Swamp Thing meets up with Animal Man in a crossover, and two new BEFORE WATCHMEN titles make their debut. And speaking of BEFORE WATCHMEN, those new covers sure had you talking! But let’s not get ahead of ourselves.

Here’s what went down this week on the DC Comics website…

We’d better make certain our air conditioners are in good working order in August because it sounds like we’re going to be spending a lot of time inside reading comics. Group solicits for the month went out on Monday, and there’s quite a bit on tap for all the DC groups:  JUSTICE LEAGUE, SUPERMAN, BATMAN, GREEN LANTERN, THE DARK, THE EDGE, YOUNG JUSTICE, BEYOND DC COMICS THE NEW 52 and BEFORE WATCHMEN.

We also revealed some new Before Watchmen covers. To say some of them aren’t for the faint of heart or easily offended is to put it mildly. As a bonus, we gave you your first glimpse of the variant covers for SILK SPECTRE #1.

On the subject of variant covers, we showed off some great ones for THE SHADE #9, BATMAN #10 and DEATHSTROKE #10.

Like many of you, we’ve been wondering how “The Culling” is going to wrap up in the pages of TEEN TITANS next week, but this week we started thinking about the aftermath. Actually, we did more than just think about it. We gave you a peek at what comes next for SUPERBOY, TEEN TITANS, LEGION LOST and teased the series spinning out of this crossover event, THE RAVAGERS.

Finally, we invited you to go on a DCComics.com “talent search,” as we showed off a few of our new talent portraits and bios and invited you to search the site for more. How many can you find?

Not bad for seven days! We hope you all enjoy the weekend, and we’ll see you next Friday for another Week-In-Review!
