SWEET TOOTH, THE NEW DEADWARDIANS, GONE TO AMERIKAY, the deluxe edition of FLEX MENTALLO: MAN OF MUSCLE MYSTERY, Eisner Award nominations… We’ve had a lot to celebrate this week on VertigoComics.com, and considering that we’re entering the weekend, there’s really no need to stop the celebration. But we’re happy to take a brief pause as we look at what went down this week.
Here’s what happened on VertigoComics.com…
Editor Mark Doyle revealed that SWEET TOOTH #32 contains one of his favorite scenes in the series, and showed off some great Jeff Lemire watercolors.
Have you GONE TO AMERIKAY yet? Executive Editor Karen Berger offered up some thoughts on Vertigo’s new hardcover before sharing writer Derek McCulloch’s notes on his text and some of artist Colleen Doran’s sketches, pencils and reference images.
After that Will Dennis reminded us how many steps there are to producing a single comic book page by breaking down a NEW DEADWARDIANS page for us and introducing us to some important, yet often overlooked, members of the creative team.
Finally, we announced this year’s Eisner Award Nominations. DC Entertainment earned a total of 15 of them, and 10 of the nominations were for Vertigo titles and creators. Congrats to all of the hardworking men and women who made these books the successes that they are!
And with that, we return to our comics and cocktails. Have a happy holiday weekend, everyone!
