We’re now in the third week of Batman Eternal, and DC’s new weekly Batman comic shows no sign of slowing down (as indicated by issue #3’s Batmobile meets bombs cover).
With a title like Forever Evil, you know you’re in for some devastating, far reaching results. But for Batman, it seems like those results may hit painfully close to home. From the very first issue, things haven’t looked good for Nightwing. The one hero to be held captive by the Crime Syndicate, the series began with his identity being revealed to the world, and since then Dick Grayson has remained under lock and key. But eventually, you knew the series would return to his story, and with this week’s issue #6, it has.
Six years ago, the legend of Batman emerged amid the greatest catastrophe Gotham had ever endured. A maniac calling himself The Riddler shut down all electric power mere days before a terrifying superstorm.
Every legendary hero has an opposite number. The other side of the coin. The darkness to their light. These reflections of evil, death and menace bring out the best in our champions – if they can survive the experience.
