All this week on DCComics.com we've been celebrating one of the greatest shows in the history of television. No, not Breaking Bad, but we totally get that. Not The Wire either, although, again, good guess.
Ask a Batman fan of a certain age what their favorite Batman movie is and there’s a good chance their answer is Batman: Mask of the Phantasm. However, move down the age spectrum a bit and ask a younger Batman fan about the film and you may find that they haven’t even heard of it. While it’s not unusual for iterations of a long-beloved character like Batman to resonate most strongly with the generation they first appeared, Batman: Mask of the Phantasm seems to be a particularly unique case.
DC Collectibles has returned from Toy Fair, where their new line of action figures based on Batman: The Animated Series was a smashing success! While the figures won't be in stores until November, the Collectibles crew provided us with an in-depth look at the figures and what you can expect from them. (In short, plenty of articulation and accessories!)
Who’s that stopping by the DC office? Why, it’s none other than Paul Dini, and he’s just in time for Batman: An Animated Celebration! He’s here to discuss the new Batman: The Animated Series action figures, and he’s far from our only guest.
In honor of Batman: An Animated Celebration, our week-long tribute to Batman: The Animated Series, TIffany Smith writes about her childhood spent watching the show after school, and the impact it had on her. Particularly her love for a certain lovestruck former psychiatrist.
If you missed the news last week, Batman: The Animated Series is the inspiration for the newest line of action figures from DC Collectibles. We thought this was worth celebrating, so to give the action figures a proper launch, we’re devoting much of this week to Batman: The Animated Series here on DCComics.com with a five-day event called “Batman: An Animated Celebration.”
