Two pop culture forces collide in Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point, a six-issue series written by Christos Gage and illustrated by Reilly Brown, with concept and story consultation from chief creative officer of Epic Games, Donald Mustard.

The series starts next Tuesday, April 20, and continues with twice-monthly installments in May and June—issue #2 on May 4, #3 on May 18, #4 on June 1, and #5 on June 15—before concluding July 6 with Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point #6. Each issue has a main cover by the amazing Mikel Janín; a variant cover from superstar artists including Jim Lee, Amanda Conner, Art Adams and Dan Mora; and a premium variant cover illustrated by Donald Mustard.

Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point will launch day-and-date in comic book shops and on DC UNIVERSE INFINITE, and will be available at release in North America, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Brazil, Spain and the Czech Republic, with plans to release the full series in Japan, Korea and France later this fall.

That’s not all. Each print issue of Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point will include a redeemable code for bonus DC-themed Fortnite digital items inspired by the events in the comic, starting with the new Rebirth Harley Quinn Outfit! As a bonus item, fans who redeem all six codes will unlock a new Armored Batman Zero Outfit. Please note, digital comics available on DC UNIVERSE INFINITE do not include any redeemable codes for Fortnite in-game bonus rewards.

But while you know Batman (if you’re reading this, we’re presuming that’s a safe bet) you may not yet know Fortnite. We’ve got you covered—along with all the details on how to redeem your DC-themed Fortnite digital items thanks to a FAQ from our friends at Fortnite.

Fortnite is a Pretty Big Deal

Fortnite is a completely free cross-platform game where players fight to be the last one standing in Battle Royale, join forces to make their own Creative games, or catch a live show with their friends at Party Royale. With more than 350 million accounts globally and an enthusiastic fanbase, players can jump into the action on PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, Android, PC and Mac.

But What’s Batman Doing Here?

He’s trying to figure that out himself. As Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point #1 starts, a mysterious crack appears in the Gotham City sky, threatening reality itself. Batman—along with some other familiar DC faces—is pulled into it, with the Dark Knight waking up in the unfamiliar world of Fortnite with no memory and no choice other than to fight his way out.

Who’s the Fish Guy?

That’s Fishstick, one of the many visually distinctive and fan-favorite Fortnite characters to appear in Batman/ Fortnite: Zero Point.

This Isn’t the First DC/Fortnite Collaboration

While Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point is the first comic book collaboration between DC and Fortnite, there’s a history here, as the game has previously offered players in-game outfits of DC characters including Batman, Aquaman, Catwoman, Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, the Joker and more.

FAQ:

Where are the Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point comics available?

The series launches day-and-date in North America, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Brazil, Spain and the Czech Republic. Additional countries in Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, South America and Latin America will also have a limited number of print comic books available. Be sure to check your preferred local comic book store for availability.

What are the in-game items/outfits in Fortnite?

Every player in Fortnite can choose their own in-game character and customize the character’s cosmetic appearance. They can customize their in-game character appearance (Outfits) and in-game accessories (Pickaxes, Gliders, Back Blings, etc.), and even how they celebrate or interact with other players (Emotes).

Traditionally, players buy these items with V-Bucks, the in-game currency used in Fortnite.

How Can Fortnite players get access to the Batman/Fortnite in-game items?

There are 3 ways to get the items that are a part of the Batman/Fortnite crossover event:

  1. Purchase print versions of the Batman/Fortnite comic books from your local comics shop. The print version of each of the comic book issues contains 1 unique code that unlocks that issue’s in-game item. If you redeem the code from all six issues of the Batman/Fortnite crossover, you’ll receive a bonus Armored Batman Zero Outfit. The hardcover collected edition, available on September 7, 2021, collects all 6 comic books and includes 1 unique code that unlocks all 7 items.
  2. Purchase the in-game items directly in the Fortnite game, with V-Bucks.*
  3. Please note, digital comics available on DC UNIVERSE INFINITE do not include any redeemable codes for Fortnite in-game bonus rewards.

Note: Code redemption can be from digital or physical issues, or a combination of both. In order to get the bonus Armored Batman Zero Outfit, all six codes must be redeemed on the same Epic Games account.

*The suggested retail price of a Batman/Fortnite comic book is $4.99 ($5.99 for a card stock variant cover). While the in-game cost of items varies by item, the item featured in Issue #2 (the Batman Zero Wing Glider) is currently 1,200 V-Bucks. The Fortnite store currently sells 1,000 V-Bucks for $7.99.

I downloaded the Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point digital comic from a 3rd Party site (Comixology, Comics App on Google Play)! Can I still get my bonus digital codes for the cosmetic items?

Sorry, the digital comic offer is limited to print issues and to paid subscribers of DC UNIVERSE INFINITE (U.S. only) who are not in a free trial period.

How do I redeem my code for my bonus digital item?

  1. Visit fortnite.com/redeem.
  2. Select Your Preferred Platform or “Sign In With Epic Games” if you already have an Epic Account.
    1. Verify that you are logged into the correct account.
    2. You should see a display name in the upper right corner of the screen.
  3. Enter or copy/paste the code as-is into the “Enter Access Code” text field.
  4. Select “REDEEM."
  5. Verify the item you are redeeming and select “ACTIVATE."
  6. Launch Fortnite with the same Epic account.

Note: Codes Expire on May 1, 2025

How do Fortnite players get these outfits and other items without buying comics?

Fortnite players must have an Epic Games account to maintain a V-Bucks balance. You can find out more about how V-Bucks work at Fortnite’s V-Bucks FAQ.

The Rebirth Harley Quinn Outfit is exclusive to DC comics codes from the release of issue #1 on April 20, 2021 until June 2021. All other items will be sold in Fortnite’s store the same day they become available through the comic redemption codes.

Do I need to redeem codes from all six issues to get the Armored Batman Zero Outfit at no additional cost?

Yes.  The Armored Batman Zero Outfit will be provided at no additional cost if you redeem a code from each of the 6 issues or if you redeem the code from the hardcover collected edition. Code redemption can actually be from digital or physical issues, or a combination of both. In order to get the bonus  Armored Batman Zero Outfit, all six codes must be redeemed on the same Epic Games account. However, if, for example, you redeem 5 codes but purchase the 6thitem from Fortnite’s store, you will not be eligible to receive the Armored Batman Zero Outfit at no additional cost. In this case, you would need to purchase the Armored Batman Zero Outfit in the Fortnite store separately (or redeem the sixth code).

I’m not located in a country where the comic book will be available. Can I still get the Rebirth Harley Quinn Outfit and the other digital items from the comic book?

Yes, the Fortnite cosmetic items will be available in the Item Shop. The Rebirth Harley Quinn Outfit will only be available with the bonus code in the comic book on April 20, but it will also appear in the Item Shop later this summer. All other Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point cosmetics will be available in the Item Shop day-and-date with the bonus codes in the comic books.

Does the Batman/Fortnite series provide an important insight into the world of Fortnite?

Yes! Batman/Fortnite delves into the storytelling and characters behind iconic Fortnite concepts like the Zero Point and the Island (the location where Fortnite takes place), as well as foundational issues like why all of these characters from different worlds are converging (and fighting), why the characters can’t speak, and why they can’t access their memories from before arriving in Fortnite.
