If you’re a fan of iZombie, The CW’s just-returned adaptation of the classic Vertigo comic, then you know the key role that food plays on the show. iZombie’s take on the walking dead is far from the lumbering, decomposing, eating-straight-out-of-the-skull zombie that we’ve seen in most movies and shows. These zombies are intelligent, fully sentient individuals indistinguishable from the rest of us…provided they get their brains and a good spray tan. They appreciate fine cuisine, and Rose McIver’s Liv Moore is frequently seen using brains as the basis of some surprisingly scrumptious-looking dishes.

It was in that spirit that the cast and producers of iZombie gathered last week at a unique culinary event where they were joined by roughly twenty TV journalists and bloggers to cook some dishes inspired by the show. (Don’t worry, the ingredients were only inspired by brains. They didn’t actually include them.) Each recipe was derived from a particular episode and ranged from straightforward beef burger sliders, to hand-crafted tuna and veggie rolls, to a unique take on spaghetti topped with marinara-covered cauliflower, which looked remarkably like a…well, you can probably guess.

Enjoy this gallery of candid, casual photos taken at the event, and don’t forget to watch iZombie at 9 p.m. (8 p.m. CST) each Tuesday on The CW!
