Well, here we are Legends fans. It's the midseason finale. We're about to go on hiatus until 2018, so make sure you give yourself a lovely holiday full of wild hypothesizing and conspiracy theory crafting because, man, things are getting weird this time around, huh?

First, we probably ought to talk about the elephant in the room: Leo Snart, the Captain—sorry, Citizen Cold from Earth-X decided to stick around for a while. In case you inexplicably skipped last week's mega four-part crossover, you might want to go back and check it out. That should catch you up to speed on just how and why there's suddenly a Lenny doppelganger with the crew. It probably won't explain why he's the sort of person who tries to use a Muppet for group therapy and grief counseling.

Honestly, even I don't have a good explanation for that one, but I will tell you that I love it with all of my heart. I mean, come on. It's not like our original Lenny was a completely normal guy either. He was just a little, y'know, rougher around the edges. Sappy, sweet, earnest Leo is a bit of an adjustment to make (clearly, just look at poor Mick), but he's still a Snart at heart. I'm so glad he's on the crew for however long he decides to stay.

And speaking of grief counseling, man, running right into young Stein right after our Martin's death is kind of a gut punch, huh? Everything about this episode was completely ridiculous (figures we’d get the silly midseason finale), from Beebo to Damien Darhk's hilarious Odin costume, but the big undercurrent of the whole thing—the themes about loss and moving on and mourning—were actually pretty dark, all things considered.

I think this episode was really the "spoonful of sugar" effect in full swing. Plenty of goofiness and absurdity to distract from the fact that things are not looking very good for our team. Like, at all.

Nate brought up something this week that I think we should definitely start paying a lot of attention to: just how bizarre it is that we keep running into versions of the team in different times, right around anachronisms. The chances of that happening once are pretty slim, but happening two, three, four times? That's a pattern, easy as anything—and it seems to be a pattern that Mallus is keyed into, too.

I don't know and I don't have any real guesses as to just what could be linking the Legends to the anachronisms and to Mallus, but I will say that I think I'm finally ready to give up on my "something is wrong with Lily Stein's baby" theory for the time being. I know, I know, I'm sad about it too, but, honestly, I think we need to start thinking bigger. Maybe Lily and baby Ronnie aren't the issue, maybe it's just that something is wrong with the whole Waverider crew.

I just have no clue what that "something" might be yet.

So please, let me know in the comments below if you've picked up something I may have missed!

And speaking of the crew, of course we have to talk about the fact that we're actually down one more as of this week. I can't say I expected Jax to peace out, but, given how everything went last week, I also can't say I'm surprised.

After spending so much time trying to figure out just how Firestorm could work without Stein around, I neglected to even consider the simplest possible answer to my own question: maybe Firestorm just won't work without Martin. Maybe this is just the way things go. We know Jax is perfectly capable of heroics on his own, powers or no powers, but everybody has limits…and I think Jax just hit his.

But who could blame him?

If you've been reading my Couch Clubs for a while, you probably know that I never like to count people out for good, so of course I want to believe that we haven't seen the last of Jax, but I feel like something major will be what winds up bringing him back. Maybe whatever is happening with the anachronisms and Mallus will wind up circling back on a version of him from the past—or maybe the future—and pull him back into action.

Oh, and one more thing before we break for the hiatus. Sara and Agent Sharpe are totally going to hook up, aren't they? Differences aside, I actually think they might just make a good power couple. I mean, stranger things have happened.
