Let’s see if we can thaw out some of this episode’s secrets…

The GCPD races to Arkham to meet Mr. Freeze head on, but it’s Hugo Strange who’s pulling the strings in this week’s wild episode! The #DCTV Secrets keep coming and they’re something you’ll want to talk about at the water cooler tomorrow…provided it’s not frozen. Here’s tonight’s talking point:

It Started with a Match

This week’s episode reveals that the man responsible for the murders of Thomas and Martha Wayne is Patrick “Matches” Malone—a killer-for-hire.  He’s portrayed as a ruthless, yet conflicted man, who is emotionally numb and at odds with himself for all the lives he’s taken over his career.

In the comics, Matches Malone was a small-time arsonist who first appeared in BATMAN #242. After his death, Bruce Wayne began using Matches Malone’s identity as a way to infiltrate and gain knowledge into the various Gotham criminal organizations that he would not otherwise be able to approach.  Known for his sharp look of tinted glasses, mustache and trademark match clenched in his cheek, Matches is one of the few criminals that Batman believed wasn’t all that bad of a guy.

See you next week!
