The #DCTV Secrets of ARROW: Ep 4.15 "Taken"

By Amy Ratcliffe Wednesday, February 24th, 2016

There's magic in the air (quite literally) in Star City this season—and there are more secrets than just the source of that power to be found. That's why we're here to tease you with all the #DCTV Secrets hiding in each episode. If you really want to know some of the answers to these questions, check out the spoiler section... and get to the point.

We don't need a magical totem to uncover secrets.

Damien Darhk goes too far by kidnapping Oliver's son. To track his nemesis, Ollie calls upon a familiar friend—Vixen. She uses her powers to summon animalistic aid, while Oliver faces the consequences of keeping secrets from Felicity. Fortunately, we don't have to do the whole heart-to-heart thing because we're putting these #DCTV Secrets on the table for you:

  • Who is Vixen?
  • A presidential plaza

Don't peek behind the mask if you don't want to know any more. But of course you do and you will.

Pursuing Animal Instincts

Oliver fights magic with magic by calling in Mari McCabe, a.k.a. Vixen. The duo first met in the Vixen animated series on CW Seed. Actress Megalyn EK voiced the character in that spinoff series and tonight made her live action debut as Mari on Arrow. By day, she's a fashion designer; by night, she's a hero and keeps the streets of Detroit safe.

In the comics, Vixen was first introduced in CANCELLED COMIC CAVALCADE #2. Her story picked back up in ACTION COMICS #521. Mari inherited a Tantu Totem from her mother and became the costumed superhero Vixen. She used the talisman to call upon the skills and abilities of any animal—she could run fast like a cheetah or channel the strength of a gorilla. As part of groups such as the Justice League of America and the Suicide Squad, Vixen fought a number of formidable foes. She most recently made an appearance in BLACK CANARY #8, and writer Brenden Fletcher has promised we’ll be seeing more of her in the issues ahead.

Not Just Any Meeting Place

Darhk sets Nelson Plaza as a meeting location. It’s a great spot for a meet-up between DC Comics icons since the Star City locale just happens to share a name with President of DC Entertainment Diane Nelson!

See you in a few weeks!
